Kitties and Doggies..oh my!!

Cady and Sebastian

I love pets. I always had them growing up and I absolutely love the feeling of having an animal that is completely yours. This picture is the two animals that my parents now have that used to be mine.

Sebastian, the cat, is a break up cat. Now most of you girls know what I'm talking about when I say I have a break up animal. My roommate Carrie actually went so far as to take out a loan to pay for HER divorce dog. I went to a shelter and got Sebastian after my long term boyfriend/fiance broke up with me right before our wedding/Valentines Day. I went into the shelter and looked around for a full grown, lazy cat. I saw this cow spotted black and white cat already named Sebastian and thought....Oh he's all lazy and sleepy...I want HIM! I went through the adoption process...forked over 30 bucks and wahlah...he was mine. As I was walking out the shelter door, the attendant said after me, "when the medication wears off, he'll be a bit more active." I stopped in my tracks..."medication?" She said, "Yes, he just got fixed today." Oh yes, this lazy sleepy kitty was just DRUGGED...and when I got him back to my very SMALL apartment...and he "became a bit more active" my life for a bit was very very very um.....busy. He was a bad bad kitty...clawed everything...climbed up doorframes....I would come home and find him on top of the fridge, having knocked over everything on every countertop. When I ended up moving into my new apartment, I couldn't take him with me...so to the Richard farm he went....where my parents soon learned to love him, teach him to settle down...and make him a FAT outdoors kitty.

Cady Dog was also picked up at a shelter and the stories behind her are very very very long and extensive. Needless to say, she has massive separation anxiety. She ate through my ex's and I's mattress, our couch, a few rugs, or clothing, our shoes...EVERYTHING when we were gone away from her. Once I had Isabelle, we just couldn't handle the dog AND a brand new baby...and my dad's disease made him quite sappy and he loved Cady...so my parents took her in. She is now in doggy heaven (even if still a bit misbehaved) and has a lot of room to run and goes for walks with my parents every morning.

These pets are still mine...Cady sleeps with me when I stay over at my parents, Sebastian is a bit distant but still makes sure he visits when I'm there. I miss having them but my parent's house is a so much like a resort, I don't blame them for being happy there.

There is my crazy pet story for the day :)

I just adopted a kitten a week ago and it was the best decision I EVER made. She's nuts (as any 10 week old kitten is I guess). She chases invisible bugs up walls, gallops down my very long hallway but hasn't learned how to stop on the hardwood floors and so just crashes into things in order to change direction. But god DAMN I had no idea I could love something this much this quick!

Oh cats are just the best! The best thing we did for our cat was to get another. It took Charley a while to warm up to Maizey and get over being ticked at me for bringing in another cat, but now, they're inseperable. They sleep in the same spot, they play tag, they wrestle, the steal each other's food, they groom each other...ok, well, Chuck grooms Maizey, but you get the picture! They're SO much fun!
